| Gardening service for all jobs
TRULY Welgemoed always had a passion for gardening when she was growing up and later turned it into a career. Ms Welgemoed has opened a new gardening service on the Border and says no job is too big or too small. She recently relocated from the Dandenongs in Victoria, where she ran a successful gardening business for 12 years and which she sold before moving to Albury-Wodonga. "I think this area has so much potential and I am looking forward to establishing a busy gardening service like I did in the Dandenongs," she said. Ms Welgemoed will service all properties from small domestic blocks to large lifestyle properties with acreage. "I have vast experience preparing properties for sale and all aspects of rental maintenance and I have managed wedding reception gardens, commercial properties and bed and breakfast landscaping," she said.
Clan thought to be behind kidnapping
The Archbishop's sermon echoed growing unease over the fate of Mr Johnston, who has now been held for longer than any other hostage in Gaza. A series of protests by Palestinian journalists aimed at pressuring Palestinian leaders to secure his release have brought little progress so far. Criminal families have become so powerful that local authorities can do little to control them. Ali Sartawi, Justice Minister of the Palestinian Unity Government, said: "It is impossible for us to implement the law because of the power and influence of the big clans. They are more powerful than us." It is still unclear who is holding Mr Johnston. The BBC says that it has not had direct contact with the kidnappers, though it has been told that he is well. Palestinian authorities say that they have yet to receive any demands.
Second Harrison Stadium renovation meeting
There will be a second public meeting for the renovations on Harrison Stadium on April 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the classroom on the scoreboard side of the stadium. The classroom are located outside the stadium on the east side of the north parking lot opposite from the armory. Oroville High School's Athletic Director Tom Aldridge said that there was between 40 and 50 people show up at the first meeting and several projects were listed as possible upgrades. This meeting is to formalize a committee to work on renovation projects for Harrison Stadium and other athletic facilities in the district. "This meeting is to prioritize what the committee wants to take on and what the community will support," Aldridge said. A list featuring everything from the new light poles to landscaping for irrigation was given a tentative budget price.
VIEW: Murder most foul — Mehreen Zahra-Malik
Tariq Alis depiction of a horrifying and soulless dystopia under Zia is chillingly accurate. A journey through Alis Pakistan leads us to an eerier landscape: that of a real-life Pakistan where Ali's nightmare visions are being played out with gruelling certainty. The condemned man is being walked to the gallows. Forty yards from it, despite being tightly gripped from the shoulders by the warders, he steps slightly aside to avoid a puddle on the path. Working for the British Imperial Police in Burma in the 1920s, George Orwell thought this a curious occurrence that a man with a tenth of a second to live could reason even about puddles. This man was not dying, wrote Orwell, he was alive. He was a young life in full tide, just as alive as the men walking him to the hangman.
