*Garden designer and perennial specialist Kent Russell will speak at the Warrington Garden Club meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Pearl S. Buck Room of the Bucks County Library Center, 150 S. Pine St., Doylestown. Russell will discuss container gardening and provide tips on planting and maintaining containers throughout the season. Guests are welcome. Carcassonne to hit XBLA in Summer 2007
Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) title Carcasonne will be available on shelves this summer, announced Sierra Online – the game's official developer. Designed for two to five players, Carcassonne is set in a medieval landscape made up of 72 tiles. Players start from a single tile and then draw from a pool of remaining tiles to create a growing landscape and gain points for ultimate victory. Carcassonne will feature multiplayer modes both offline and online allowing players to compete against up to five players on Xbox LIVE and four players on a single Xbox 360. .
Volunteers in Whittier, Pico Rivera to help clean up over the weekend
Armed with shovels, brooms and paint brushes, hundreds of volunteers will be fanning out through Whittier and Pico Rivera on Saturday to take part in local beautification projects. "This is an opportunity for volunteers to go out and give back whatever they can," said Delaphine Hudson, who is coordinating Helping Hands Day at Whittier College. "It's definitely a big weekend for us," she added. Hudson, residential life director at the college, said she's expecting as many as 200 students and staff at Saturday's clean-up event, which begins at 8a.m. The volunteers will help beautify selected locations on the university's campus and also will visit the Whittier Area First Day Coalition's transitional housing facility. There, volunteers will stain a wood fence in a patio area at the facility.
